Beautiful Scrap Sale 2019!

Attention wood lovers!

In celebration of spring, reinvention, new growth, and in preparation for our studio move this summer (stay tuned for more info!), we are emptying the shelves for our Beautiful Scrap Sale!  This year, the event will take place over two weekends:

Sat April 27 + Sun April 28
and

Sat May 18 + Sun May 19
from 10AM - 6PM

The sale includes a little bit of everything Wickham: interesting hardwood leftovers and cutoffs from our furniture work, small live edge slabs, rippings, cutting board seconds and other woodscrap ephemera...  Both natural edge and square edge. Everything priced to sell.  All from the sustainably-sourced, locally processed trees that we specialize in: black walnut, black cherry, white oak, red cedar, white elm... and others.

In addition to Beautiful Scrap, for the first time we will be selling full-size premium live-edge slabs from our inventory.  Please note that pricing for the full size slabs is market rate, no deep discounts. For a preview, please see:

And finally, back by popular demand, we will be selling heirloom tomato seedlings! Organic, non-GMO, indeterminate varieties.  Will need staking.  Best flavor on the planet.

WORK:SHOP Holiday Market 2015!

We are excited to bring back WORK:SHOP Holiday Artisan Market this year for its third incarnation!  Saturday Dec 5 + Sunday Dec 6.  The studio will be full to the brim with gorgeous small goods produced by 17 of our good friends and colleagues from the Hudson Valley and NYC.  Hope to see you there!

Beacon Japan Tool Study Group

Over the past six months we have had the privilege of hosting the Beacon Japanese Tool Study Group in our studio on occasional Sundays… It is an ongoing exploration of the mysteries and incredible properties of the kanna, the Japanese hand plane and the other tools that support it – chisels, saws and marking devices.  We turn off our cell phones, put the waterstones in to soak and practice, practice, practice under the expert and guiding eye of Yann Giguere.  Yann owns and operates Mokuchi, a very special Japanese woodworking school of sorts out of his studio in Brooklyn.  We are so lucky that he is able to make the trip to Beacon to work with us.

Beautiful Scrap

To paraphrase the old saying, one person’s scrap is another person’s treasure. Local blogger Wigwam Economy highlighted the studio’s first scrap wood sale, happening this weekend during Beacon’s monthly Second Saturday stroll.
